Two-time Tour de France winner Laurent Fignon died Tuesday after a long battle with cancer, the London Telegraph reported on its website. He was 50.
Fignon won 76 races during his career, but may be known best for a competition he didn't win. Greg LeMond rallied to beat Fignon by eight seconds during the final state of of the 1989 Tour de France -- a loss that overshadowed the Frenchman's victories in the race in 1983 and 1984.
